I was sitting at my desk and all of a sudden a song my sorority sings for serenades came popping into my head and will not go away.
The cannibal king with the big nose ring fell in love with the zulu maid
and every night by the pale moonlight across the bay he'd wade
To woo and kiss his lusty miss in the shade of the big bay tree,
and when they sang they sang a duet and it sounded like this to me....
Oh you've heard about the Sig eps, the best boys in the land
In every activity they take the upper hand
For they've got wit and cleverness, as well as knowledge too
We think they're regular fellows and we hope you think so to
(fraternity guys join in here)
So we will drink to dear old Epsilon and we will raise our glasses high (raise em high)
and we will drink to our fraternity and we'll be loyal till we die (until we die)
For how we love our sacred brotherhood
and we will laud it to the skkyyyyy and when the day is done we'll drink (just one) to sigma phi epsilon --DRINK BEER. --> or milk if you were so inclined to not promote beer drinking.
This song led to another "frat round"
How'd you like to date a Kappa Sig?
To be the sweetheart of a Kappa Sig?
To have a date with him most every night,
Always wear his colors scarlet green and white my darling
Pledge your love for all eternity, (do-wa-do) come and join the best fraternity,Beta Tau, willl mean a lot to Kappa Sig. doodledado
I may as well include the last ones as I'm sure I'll be singing them all night now....
Down in Kansas in a little town,
I pledged a frat of great re noun
Made some friends both tried and true
Delta Tau Delta is the frat for you
Delta Tau (do wa do wa do wa)
Delta Tau (do wa do wa do wa)
Delta Tau (do wa do wa do wa)
Delta Tau thats the frat--fraternity for you
Gamma Theta is the chapter name
and the badge is square with a golden frame
their colors are purple white and gold
and on our campus they're brave and bold
Delta Tau (do wa do wa do wa)
Delta Tau (do wa do wa do wa)
Delta Tau (do wa do wa do wa)
Delta Tau thats the frat--fraternity for you
I dont' have the time right now to type out the Zeta Chi song....its a long one!
I miss college sometimes.
This is just a collection of my life, I'm a married, low key girl just taking it one day at a time through family, home improvements, friends and everything in between.

My wish was heard and answered
I found this blog today: http://makeaheadmeals.blogspot.com/
cue the heavens parting, angels singing and me being excited! I have been looking for some recipes I can make ahead and freeze for Spence and I for the nights I work at Nike/dont want to cook etc. I have been perusing this blog for a lil bit today and I'm pretty excited to try some of these!

Weekend Recap
Well it was a fun filled (almost tear filled) weekend! On Friday we headed over to our friends to watch the KU game. Delicious wings, awesome friends and it really couldn't have been a better night!
Saturday I worked at the Nike store in the morning (woo?) and then we headed down to Lawrence to celebrate Scotty too Hotty's birthday! (obviously this is not his legal full name) There were wigs, hats and the worlds best song ever.
(Best song ever = the Rebecca Black song Friday, I'm not going to diss a 13 year old because frankly I bought the song on iTunes and we rocked out to it most of the time we were in the car, she wins, even though the song is pretty awful).
We headed out to the Red Lyon on Mass street, had some drinks and ate popcorn with Tabasco on it. I love Mass Street. This evening also involved a sushi dinner from our FAVORITE place to get sushi, Yokahama. MMMMMMM.
Sunday we got some take out breakfast from Eggct (amazing and so close to us, I forget how good breakfast can taste when I don't have to actually cook it myself lol). Not long after that we watched the KU game. Here is where the tears almost came in. Spence and his friend were, shall we say, vocal? during the game. The team just couldn't keep it together long enough to beat VCU. Needless to say the rest of the day was a wash, we didn't get much done. Poor Spencer just kept looking at me saying things like "I'm very sad" and then he'd sit quietly for a little while again. There may have also been some beer that was consumed in the wake of the loss. Maybe.
Now we're onto another fun filled week, I worked last night and tonight at Nike, so I haven't actually seen Spence since Sunday night lol. After tonight I don't work at Nike again till Saturday night so I'm looking forward to getting some cleaning done around the house! Yay cleaning!

What I wish people knew....
About insurance:
~It doesnt matter how long you've been with the company, if your policy says its not covered, its not covered.
~I cannot just take your word for it that something cost you a grand and then pay you a grand, thats not how this works.
~Insurance covers certain things but not all things. If insurance covered every possible thing in every possible situation your premiums would be so high no one could afford insurance.
~Insurance is not a savings account. We will pay your loss the same way if you have been an insured for 10 days or 10 years.
~I want to pay your claim, you yell less when I do.
~I do not enjoy denying claims, it's probably the worst part of my day when it happens.
~It's a good idea to pay for replacement cost on your contents coverage (home owners) seriously, it is.
~Policies are kinda boring, and yet its not the worst idea to review them every now and again so you know what you are paying for.
~Once a year or so its a good idea to sit down with your agent and make sure you have coverage for your stuff. This avoids nasty surprises if something happens and you find out that your limits don't cover what you had.
~Most policies have "special limits" on things like money furs, guns, jewelry etc, know what yours are and if you have more than what those limits will cover, call your agent, they can get you addl coverage.
~I want to believe you when we talk, don't lie to me and make it hard.
~When you lie to your claim adjuster, we know, we usually just cant' prove it.
~Insurance can be confusing. Most people do not have to deal with it on a regular basis. Ask questions if you have them. If you understand why something is happening it usually makes the process easier to get through.
~Your claim adjuster knows that they may be seeing you at your worst, and that excuses some bad behavior, but dont push it please.
Always remember, that the person you talk to on the phone is in fact a person. I treat you with respect and courtesy about your claim, its nice when you can do the same thing for me.

Hopeful
I talked to the general manager last night about my hours. The talk went well and I'm hoping that when the schedule goes up for next week I'll be working 2 week night shifts and a weekend shift. That would be right at about 16 hrs a week. I guess I won't know till then how seriously they took me.

Scheduling
I think I'm going to have to talk to my scheduling manager at the part time job. I told them when I was hired I was looking for about 16 hrs a week. I've been working at least 23 so far a week. This means that I'm getting slightly frazzled at my full time job, very frazzled at home and not excited about going to the part time job. I can see me doing this for about a month or so before I burn out and realize that I am no longer 21 and cannot exist on 5 hrs of sleep per night and hope to be productive.
I need to come up with some easy recipes I can make on a Sunday for Spence to eat during the week while I work nights. My usual schedule has been working at Nike Mon, Tues, Fri and Sat*. So if I cook some things on Sunday he can eat them on Mon and Tues, and then make something later in the week for Friday.
*Hopefully though one of the weeknight shifts will go away soon, I really really hope so.
