Its been a while! We've been super busy around our house, between working, friends, my birthday, working, house projects and also working a little bit it seems like we've hardly had any time to breathe!
Some recent highlights of our life include:
Sunday Funday on July 17 with our good friends to go see the *LAST* Harry Potter movie. We drove down to Lawrence, had breakfast and watched Deathly Hallows pt 1, had some bloody Mary's at our favorite local spot, and then enjoyed the conclusion of more than a decade of movies and books!
My birthday (OMG 28) on July 19, we went out for a very nice dinner at the Melting Pot. There were some issues w gnats attempting to eat our food as well, and so I called them the next day and the are sending us a gift cert. for another visit.
I made the first step in getting the "great closet remodel of 2011" underway. I moved all our hanging clothes to a rolling rack that the former roomie left for us. Now I can see exactly how many shoes we have cluttering the floor of the closet. I for see another goodwill trip in our future, I'm pretty sure I've never seen some of these shoes.....
We got new couches (well new to us. we are the 3rd generation in my family to use them.....) for the basement. I'm thinking that if I can find some good slipcovers I'd like to switch them for the couches upstairs and put the big squishy ones down in the basement.
One of Spencer's best friends from growing up recently got engaged and so we have a wedding to attend before the end of the year! (I've been going through wedding withdrawals, its been at least 6 mos since we attended one!) and I'm super excited for them!
Another one of Spencer's bff's --do guys have bff's??-- and his wife are due this October with their first little boy. I've been going *slightly* crazy walking past all the baby things I want to buy for them....
We've had several friends who are either giving birth today (scheduled C-section) or have had their first babies within the last few weeks, its such a wonderful thing to see the love and commitment to their new growing families!
I need to get my photos from a lot of these events uploaded and once I do you can expect a photo filled post!
This is just a collection of my life, I'm a married, low key girl just taking it one day at a time through family, home improvements, friends and everything in between.

Royals Game, hottest day EVER
Spence and I have a few groups of friends we try to see on a regular basis. Mostly its hit and miss with everyone's schedules and crossing fingers that we can all get together. One group though has figured out that if we leave it up to chance that we may never see each other all together again. Between work, family, several people in masters programs etc our schedules are all jam packed. So we decided that the first, non holiday, weekend of every month we will do a recurring social event. This month it was a trip to the "K" (Kauffman Stadium) to watch the Royals.
We headed out around 3pm to tailgate and then into the stadium to watch America's pastime.

Yup, my husband in all his shirtless blinding white glory. It may have been over 90 degrees that day. I'm not sure that excuses this though....
This is what happens in our group when you lose a game of washers. Or have a birthday. Or someone hands it to you.
Being awesome in the game.
We did have pretty great seats though!
The girls
The boys
Yea, I totally married him.
(and wouldn't have it any other way)

Home Brew take 1
Last Friday Spencer finally took the plunge. He decided to brew beer.
For Christmas 2010 I bought him a beer brewing kit. We have a lot of friends who have done it a few times, and some friends who also make their own wine. Spence was intrigued. Winter came and went, no home brew.
Spring came and went, once again no home brew. The weekend before last Spence and I went over to some friends house so Spence could help brew some beer. I think seeing it done and having a practical hands on day before committing to do it himself was JUST what he needed. So we set out to try this out for ourselves.
We ran into a few kinks early in the process, mainly the need for a 5 gallon stock pot. We have a turkey fryer and so we sanitized and scrubbed out that pot (we're hoping it was good enough and no icky bacteria were left to spoil our amber ale). We sanitized and cleaned all the other items we'd need for this portion of the brewing process and got started! Here are a few pictures of our adventure.

My Reunion
So two weekends ago my graduating class and I hit a milestone, we had our 10 year reunion. Now, 5 years before this we had a 5 year reunion as well. That night consisted of a pot luck in Shawnee Mission Park and then a trip to a local bar. 5 year reunion, NBD, totally planned that one in like a week.
10 year, so not NBD. Totally a big deal. My friend Michelle (and if I'm being honest, mainly Michelle) were in charge of this blessed event. The first task, tracking down our class. For real, there were 33 of us, and we had to track people down. 2nd task, figuring out what the 33 graduating people were willing to pay for a reunion. (Because its not gonna happen if no one will pony up the cash). 3rd-zillion tasks were getting all the little details figured out that neither Michelle or I had dealt with since planning our weddings!
By the day of both Michelle and I were vowing that (1) we would never do this again and (2) that a 15 year reunion would NOT occur. By the end of the night though it was all (at least I think) worth it. We watched a bunch of videos from our senior year, marveled at how incredibly young we all look and got to catch up with some people we hadn't seen in a long time!

5 things Friday: The Spencer Edition
1) Spencer rocks. He cleaned our bedroom while I was at Nike this week and ALL our laundry is off the floor. It no longer looks like a tornado hit our room.
2) I love to wake up in the morning and roll over to find Spence still in bed beside me. He has to be at work at 6am, so unless its the weekend this does not happen very often.
3) My favorite part of the morning is when I sleepily wake up when Spencer kisses me goodby, he does it every morning even though he's pretty sure I am only awake part of the time.
4) I cannot believe that 5 years has gone by since I met Spence, I feel like the luckiest lady alive every day I get to be with him.
5) This weekend we are going to a Royals game, our first date was to a Royals game. Spence introduced me to 5 of his best friends and their SO's that day. I was pretty excited that he wanted me to meet his friends, but pretty freaked out that it was our first date!
